Bathrooms were the next phase of renovations for our clients’ period house in Clapham. They wanted the Master En-Suite to be practical and relaxing as well as feeling luxurious. The client was keen to retain the original layout of the bathroom and include their own furnishings to add authenticity. To create something unusual in the Master bathroom as well as the bathroom dedicated to their twin daughters, we chose to use different materials and finishes throughout.
We focused on good quality brands that offered reliability as well as durability. We discussed which items needed to be functional versus those in the space that could be a little more exuberant. We used brassware by Gessi for both bathrooms because of their beautiful finishes and unusual designs.
We spent hours on Zoom comparing finishes we both had in front of us. We opted for natural finishes such stone, wood and brass. For the walls and floor we used a mixture of different tiles. Details such as the brass inlay paired with the wood effect floor really lifted the space and gave it a lux feel.
In the Girls bathroom, we used a fun and quirky wallpaper design that was sourced by the client. We paired this with a striking yellow, pink and black scheme to create a truly unique space. There was a cupboard that we took out to make space to add a shower too. This proved slightly tricky with moving tanks but was essential to ensure the space worked for the growing family and their needs.
