Claremont Master En-Suite

Surrey

The overarching brief from the client was to create a ‘classic’ design, a popular request among clients wanting a timeless space that will not date within a few years. As a new build home, the couple wanted to inject some personality into the space and had highlighted their eclectic, quirky tastes, but always presented in a very classic way. Whilst the husband threw in a curveball with his love of industrial touches. To meet the brief we kept the tiling and vanity simple and added in a nod to the industrial feel with gunmetal brassware used throughout. We went with reeded glass on the double shower screen, opting for an open enclosure to maintain sightlines through the room. We also chose a slate floor herringbone tile to give the floor depth.

The client wanted to keep the original bath, to reduce cost, and thus limiting our design layout for the room. This meant we had to get clever with the bespoke vanity unit that provides ample storage and is made to measure to fit the specific space allocated. We designed the drawers below the vanity  to function as laundry storage. In a small bathroom, space is at a premium and in order to visually make the room feel larger we reduced the height and depth of the tiled concealed cistern to make it slimmer. We also sourced the unique mirror for above the vanity, its asymmetrical shape adding a quirky sense of fun to the room.

The adjacent master bedroom was also designed by us and what flows across the two spaces is mixed materials that sit happily alongside each other such as the gunmetal in the bathroom and brass in the bedroom. We used a complimentary colour scheme to tie everything together and linked the two spaces with sliding frosted glass doors.
