Oaklea Avenue | Family Bathroom

Essex

Designing four practical bathrooms that all ooze elegance and a classic modern interior is a fine balance. In this family home, our designer, Susan Roach combined Instagram-inspired elements with timeless pieces to create spaces that are as functional as they are luxurious. The client was wonderful to work with, having a keen eye for the overall vision of the house, made it such a fun process. A variety of textures, colours, and natural materials were used, along with subtle touches such as the fluted glass and small hexagon tiles to create a cohesive design across all four bathrooms.

The Family Bathroom

With two young children, the family bathroom had to feature a large bath and spacious shower, and of course, storage. The traditional Boat Bath was the perfect bath for this space as the option to paint the exterior, allowed for us to tie together the desire for classic-contemporary with a nod to industrial.

The bath’s exterior was painted in Farrow & Ball ‘Off Black’, contrasting beautifully against the dusty blue panelling and complemented by unlacquered brass fixtures that will age over time.

An industrial-style shower screen separates the walk-in shower from the rest of the room, with the most beautiful blue tiles adorning the interior space. With the brassware being minimalist and contemporary in style, the chosen finish was unlacquered brass meaning it will develop a natural patina as it ages over time again adding a sense of character. So, when it came to the floor tiles, the client was keen for something patterned and more classic in style.
