Bathroom Lighting: Need to Know

Never underestimate the importance of bathroom lighting, it can make or break your scheme and in a space where you start and end your day, it is important to balance style with functionality. Due to the amount of moisture and steam, lighting in the bathroom has to meet certain safety standards depending on the proximity to water. All the lighting we show on both our main website and online shop, are IP rated and specific for the bathroom.

Ceiling lights are usually the main source of lighting in the bathroom, but now there are many options to choose from. Wall lights are key, doubling up as both accent and task lighting. Place either side of the mirror for an even glow, or opt for a mirror that has integrated lighting or back lit. Avoid placing any lights above the mirror as they cast unwanted shadows!

Use lighting to highlight features in the room and create a relaxing atmosphere. By placing up lighters behind a freestanding bath to add atmosphere to the space or place on the wall either side of the WC a tip we usually integrate into our sides is to have these smaller lights on a PIR Sensor  – its almost like putting nightlights around. We use also like to use LED strip lighting in niches to cast a soft glow.

With lighting available in beautiful finishes to match the rest of your scheme, shop our lighting online to discover more.
